“The New Normal,” starring Choi Ji-woo (“Winter Sonata”), hits theaters in Japan on August 16th.
This gripping thriller explores the dark side of everyday life. A series of unsettling murders targeting women grips Seoul, South Korea. Hyun-jung (Choi Ji-woo), living alone in her apartment, receives a visit from a suspicious middle-aged man claiming to be a fire inspector. Meanwhile, Hyun-soo (Lee Yoo-mi, “Squid Game”) meets up with someone from a dating app, only to encounter an unexpected stranger. As these seemingly unconnected events unfold, a chilling twist throws their lives into chaos.
Choi Ji-woo returns to the big screen after a seven-year hiatus, playing the emotionally reserved Hyun-jung. Lee Yoo-mi portrays the yearning-for-connection Hyun-soo. Rounding out the cast are SHINee’s Minho as the solitary college student Hoon and Block B’s Pyo Ji-hoon (in his film debut) as the menacing Ki-jin. Horror veteran Jeong Beom-sik (“Gonjiam”) directs this haunting tale.
A chilling teaser trailer is now available on YouTube. Featuring the tagline “The beginning of a horror that will turn your daily life upside down,” the trailer hints at the psychological horror that awaits.
Don’t miss “New Normal” when it hits theaters nationwide, including Shinjuku Piccadilly in Tokyo.
